On Sunday, May 15, 2016 Fotomission and Tropicolor hosted at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden the 12th South Beach Photomarathon, an exciting event that is open to all those who enjoy photography.

Participants were assigned six topics to photograph on South Beach over a period of five hours. The topics were kept secret until the event day and were purposefully vague to give the contestants plenty of room for self-expression.

The best photos from each topic were selected, and from those, the first, second and third place winners, as well as honorable mentions were awarded prizes. The images were exhibited at Tropicolor's gallery from June 30th to July 15th, 2016.

We congratulate the following winners and honorable mentions:

First Place, Danna Quintero for the topic Nostalgia

Second Place, Luis Perrone for the topic Tranquil

Third Place, Jose Blanco for the topic Avant Garde

Honorable Mention, Ileana Oroza for the topic South Beach Style

Honorable Mention, Michal Martinez for the topic Intense

Honorable Mention, Luis Perrone for the topic Wild

Here some tips from the Miami New Times on how to win and a short YouTube video from a past event.

In addition to being terrific fun, this event helps support Fotomission KIDS, our free photography program for pediatric cancer patients.
